Comments:  You don't have to buy Cuban to smoke truly great cigars... but I also have yet to smoke a Cuban that wasn't at least a good cigar, and this Romeo y Julieta No 2 is no exception. Extracting the cigar from the tube revealed a veiny wrapper with a rather rough appearance that belied a cigar that was of otherwise very good construction. The bouquet was so mild so as to be difficult for me to detect at first... but allowing my nose a moment to "think" conjured an olfactory image of a gentle Cuban breeze... OK, OK, it was a very mild barnyard bouquet, the tell-tale of proper aging. A gentle pinch test showed a consistent firmness from head to foot. Some moderate mottling of color was observed but not so as to be unpleasant to the eye. The first couple of draws after lighting this stick were much milder than I had anticipated but the flavor quickly rose to a medium body with spicy oak overtones. Much is said of the complexity of Cuban cigars, but in this instance I just did not see it. While the flavor was enjoyable... it was simple. This is not a bad thing, it is just the way it was. This cigar's fine construction was evidenced by its lush draw, producing generous volumes of smoke, bearing a mild woody aroma. The burn was utterly even with a medium gray ash holding easily to about an inch. Overall, a very good smoke, but can be a little pricey (though it needn't be), depending on where you purchase. This smoke was a gift from my wife's employer, so in this case, it was a bargain. Thanks, Jim!
